Operating the SL500 Server Lift Properly

by Paul 1. March 2011 12:40
When you own a data centre, efficiency and safety are two of the key features that you always want to keep in mind. There are many different pieces of equipment which can be utilized by your employees to make sure that both of these are always at peak levels. As far as a server lift is concerned, the premiere item that you have available to you is the SL500 server lifter. In order to operate this piece of machinery and to make sure that it is functioning at peak levels, I have prepared a short primer that will walk you through the basic options that this lift brings to the table.

One of the first things that you should do when you first get the SL500 server lifter is to familiarize yourself with the various aspects of this piece of machinery. Knowing the limits of the server lift, such as its ability to lift 500 pounds a maximum of 8 feet can help you to know what you're able to do with this item. You need to keep in mind, the SL500 server lifter is not only able to put servers into place, it is able to lift any heavy items that would fit on the platform, such as batteries. It can also easily assist you in the removal of these items as well.

One of the key benefits of this server lift is the fact that it has a very narrow footprint. The platform itself is only 24 inches wide which easily allows you to navigate through a 26 inch opening between the server racks. Because the platform shelf will travel to the right or the left, this allows you to seamlessly install the servers without any space between the server lift and the server rack.

You should also understand the use of the locking brake and stabilizer system. When properly engaged, this will keep the server lift from moving from side to side effectively. Once locked in position, the server lift will stay static, however the sliding shelf still can be used to insert and remove equipment from the racks.

All four of the castors are made so that they will easily roll and swivel. The front castors have locks to prevent them from swivelling which is an excellent choice when you are manoeuvring the SL500 server lifter through a very narrow area. This lift is designed to be easily manoeuvred through these areas.

Of course, there are many other features of this server lift that make it an excellent choice for use in your data centre. You can easily contact Integral Networks and get a quote for one of these items. They come fully assembled and there is no certification that is necessary for you to operate the lift. You will instantly see a boost in the productivity and efficiency of your data centre, along with reducing the possibility that you will have any work-related accidents that result in injury due to lifting these heavy items.

The server lift certainly makes relocating servers and heavy equipment very quick and easy.
