If you don't specialise in networking or you aren't familiar with the cabling that is involved with network installations and what runs your internet access, then you probably are unfamiliar with category 6 cabling.
Category 6 cabling is also known as Cat 6 cabling. The most common use of Cat 6 cabling is for your standard Gigabit Ethernet connection.
Many other network protocols, specifically the ones that are backward compatible and have Category 5 or Category 3 cable standards will use Cat 6 cabling as well.
Cat 6 cabling has much more complicated specifications than its predecessors Cat 5 and Cat 5e.
Cat 6 features some pretty fascinating improvements such as crosstalk as well as system noise. Cat 6 can provide performance up to a maximum of 250MHz.
Keep in mind that Cat 6 cabling is only suitable for certain Ethernet connections. These would be 10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T/1000BASE-TX, as well as 10GBASE-T.
If you use 10GBASE-T remember that there are cable length maximums that could interfere with your connection.
